Nick Lundberg
HS Varsity Head Coach
Coach Nick Lundberg brings a wealth of lacrosse knowledge and experience to Newport High School as the current head coach of the lacrosse team. With a proven track record of leadership and skill both on and off the field, Coach Lundberg has been instrumental in shaping the game of lacrosse at various levels.
As a high school athlete, he was the captain of Batavia High School’s lacrosse team for two consecutive years, earning All Conference honors during his tenure. His prowess on the field was further recognized when he was named an Illinois All Star, distinguishing himself among the best in the state. Continuing his lacrosse journey, Coach Lundberg went on to demonstrate his leadership and athletic skill at Clarke University, where he served as team captain for two years. His exceptional play was acknowledged with KCAC All Conference honors, solidifying his reputation as a top player. Coach Lundberg’s passion for lacrosse extends beyond the borders of the United States. He competed in the Israeli Premier Lacrosse League, contributing significantly to the growth of the sport internationally.
His coaching career is as impressive as his playing days. He began as the head coach at Batavia High School, where he had once led as captain. Furthering his commitment to the development of young athletes, he took on the role of Director at True Lacrosse Illinois and Washington, where he was responsible for guiding and mentoring aspiring players. Coach Lundberg has also made his mark in box lacrosse, a variation of the field game that is played indoors. He played for the Iowa Dogfish and the Everett Express, where he honed his skills in the fast-paced, high-intensity environment of the sport. Prior to joining Newport High School, he served as an assistant coach at Glacier Peak, where he helped to develop strategic plays and foster teamwork.
The Newport High School Lacrosse team benefits from Coach Lundberg’s extensive experience, his commitment to excellence, and his dedication to fostering the personal and athletic growth of his players. Under his leadership, the team looks forward to achieving new heights and continuing to build a legacy of success.

Masa Kuramoto
Youth K-4 Coach
Coach Masa Kuramoto began playing lacrosse during his senior year at Palos Verdes Peninsula High School in California. With a background in basketball, his athletic skills quickly earned him a position as the varsity team’s starting attacker. In only its second year as a lacrosse team, his high school quickly gained a reputation as the best in their local league with an undefeated record and reaching the California state semi-finals. They were featured in Lacrosse Magazine as a noteworthy high school team. Coach Masa continued his lacrosse career in Japan at Keio University, where he was the starting attacker in his junior and senior years and served as vice-captain of nearly 100 team members. His team won the Japan Collegiate Lacrosse Championship twice and traveled to the U.S. to compete against NCAA Division I-III schools. He was also a member of the U-21 Japan National Team, competing against top teams worldwide.
Coach Masa is passionate about expanding the lacrosse program in the Newport area. He has a son and daughter who attend Somerset Elementary School, both of whom play lacrosse. He is a board member of Newport Lacrosse and works as a data scientist in the tech industry, leading a project related to generative AI. He is dedicated to fostering a lacrosse culture in Newport and creating a fun environment for the youth program.
